I didn't plan as much as I usually do for trips like this. For once, I wanted to ditch my ridiculously thorough itineraries (well not all of them😉) and make it up as I go. But one of the few things I knew that I wanted to do while in Thailand was go get lost in the middle of a national park. So that's what I did.
I chose to stay in the small town of Khao Sok. In the southwest part of Thailand, it was a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok but far away enough from the high season craziness of tourists in the southern beaches. I stayed four days in this little jungle town next to the national park. Hands down the most memorable part of the trip was my overnight stay in the national park itself. Myself and a crew of around 15 other travelers slept in floating bungalows in the middle of Cheow Lan Lake surrounded by jungle-clad cliffs.
This is what I saw.
